Our History

One June 12, 1967, one man and several women of Christian Chapel CME of Addison, Texas and Simms Chapel AME in Carrollton, Texas organized the  Keller Springs Community Church on Keller Springs Road just north of the Dallas area. The first pastor of the Keller Springs Community church was Rev. H. H. Levels.

In 1968, with the help of Rev. Wayne Allen and the First Baptist Church of Carrollton, Keller Springs Community Church secured a building at 2601 Keller Springs Road. That year the young church became a mission church under the guidance of the First Baptist Church of Carrollton.  The name of the church was changed to Keller Springs Baptist Church.

The Rev. Robert Price and Rev. Billy Joe Johnson were the first official pastors of Keller Springs Baptist Church.  The two ministers shared pastoral duties of the small congregation for a number of years.

In March 1973, the late Rev. Ezell Smith became the Pastor.

In November 1982, Pastor Willie Jacobs was called as Pastor of Keller Springs Baptist Church.  Pastor Jacobs ordained the first deacons, established the Christian Education and Mission Departments of the church.  Under Pastor Jacobs’s leadership the church grew spiritually and numerically. The church also moved into a permanent building at 2601 Keller Springs Road.  On January 1, 1987, Keller Springs Baptist Church became an independent church, no longer a mission of First Baptist Church of Carrollton.

The church began to outgrow the current facility and on February 19, 1993, 5.8 acres of land were purchased to build our present site at 3227 Keller Springs Rd. The first worship service at this site was held on Sunday, September 8, 1996.

In 1998, Keller Springs took the first mission trip to the Virgin Islands to tell more people about Jesus Christ.  Pastor Willie Jacobs, remembered as a man devoted to soul-winning, resigned as Pastor in 1998

In February 2000, Keller Springs extended the call to Rev. Larry J. Sanders, Sr. to become the 6th pastor of the church. Seeking God’s guidance, Pastor Sanders led the church into a time of prayer.  The church adopted the theme: Fresh Wind, Fresh Fire. Under his leadership, the church has grown from 67 to 600 active members. Pastor Sanders led in establishing many of the church’s current ministries.  In 2010 the church completed a renovation project.  God gave Pastor Sanders the vision to lead the congregation and Keller Springs looks forward to new endeavors as God leads His servant.....
